RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Securitas Operations Manager, as a Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the site operations and escalating incidents as needed.  You will be responsible for directly overseeing & documenting the shift’s events , and championing both customer service and service excellence in conjunction with Securitas’ Core Values; Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness. 

Site Supervisor Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Assisting Securitas Operations Manager with interview process for all open positions.
  • Scheduling all training for new recruits.
  • Maintaining Employee Site Training records.
  • New Hire set up, verifying the completion of all forms and documents needed by Security.
  • All site scheduling.
  • Assisting with special projects as needed.
  • Random inspections of all shift posts to ensure that all security officers are performing their duties according to established site and Company procedures.
  • Basic clerical duties such as writing employee memos and filing paperwork are required.
  • Writing detailed Incident Reports and forwarding copies to the Operations Manager for all issues that arise during their shift according to procedure.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all day to day operations and work related issues prior to escalating to the Security Manager.
  • Being the first point of contact for all customer related complaints and requests prior to escalating to Security or Branksome Hall Management.
  • Ensuring that all paperwork is properly completed and signed off on. This includes Shift Reports, Incident Reports, etc.
  • Assisting with Incident Investigation as needed.
  • Assisting during emergency situations that may occur on site in accordance with established site procedures.
  • Organizing and monitor security personnel duties (regular and special)
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

Site Supervisors must combine the ability to maintain a professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances, while delivering high quality customer service. It is also important that you display professional behaviour excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively at various social levels.

Supervisory Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of Security Operations
  • Must have a high level of experience in dealing with various levels of individuals within their environment and be able to adapt to the various levels of communication required with each individual.
  • Must possess the ability to discuss both positive and negative situations with the Operations Manager, and Branksome Hall Management in such a manner as to ensure that the necessary goal is achieved with a positive result.
  • Must be able to mediate situations between security guards, faculty, students and customers in a professional and unbiased manner.
  • Accurately assess employee strengths and development needs and provide feedback and coaching as deemed appropriate.
  • Must possess and display a willingness and ability to listen and understand all aspects of a particular situation in order to affect the appropriate resolution with a minimum of distress or conflict.
  • Must be prepared to communicate with members of the Management Team in order to effectively deal with day-to-day situations, which may require management involvement.
  • Must be able to monitor and control multiple tasks simultaneously, including security guards, management, emergency personnel, telephone answering, etc
  • Must have strong organizational skills to ensure optimal service delivery.

Communication/Analytical Skills:

  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English in both verbal and written form.
  • Must have a clear and professional telephone manner.
  • Must be able to relay relevant business information in a professional and concise manner regarding all aspects of the position.
  • Must have the ability to write and update Management in such a manner that is clear, concise and deals with the day to day issues or emergencies.
  • Must possess the ability to analyze, create and/or correct issues in order to provide the best possible solution to each individual situation.
  • Must possess a basic ability to analyse and understand assignment of guards and clear record keeping in order to provide support in the event of a question and/or concern.

Position Qualifications:

  • Graduate of law/security community college, or proven long term Supervisory experience, or exemplary performance as a security officer at the Branksome Hall site in conjunction with an endorsement from Securitas or Branksome Hall Management.
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of all job functions of all personnel working for him/her.
  • Energetic, diplomatic, assertive and service oriented, with a positive attitude/disposition.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Must have strong communication skills, oral and written.
  • Must demonstrate good presentation skills.
  • Must be able to deal with stressful situations quickly and calmly.
  • Basic technical knowledge of site security systems, and a demonstrated ability to upgrade that knowledge on the job.
  • Strong administrative skills: Proficient in various software applications preferably Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must possess the ability to analyze, create and/or correct issues in order to provide the best possible solution to each individual situation.

 Working Conditions:

  • Work Environment: Branksome Hall is a fast paced environment, with multiple demands on the incumbent. They will be in constant interaction with Branksome Hall staff, faculty, students management, human resources, Securitas Management and other contractors.
  • Mental Effort:  A high level of concentration and good stress management is required.
  • Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, senior executives, clients and staff, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in high pressure situations.
  • Handling and being exposed to sensitive and confidential information
  • The incumbent will be required to wear the appropriate uniform.

Specific Qualification Include:

  • Valid Security License
  • Prior experience (1+ year) in a Corporate environment or Educational Facility
  • Prior experience as a Security Supervisor
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Excellent knowledge of security operations and procedures
  • Knowledge of emergency management procedures
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports
  • Schedule flexibility
  • Prior knowledge & experience of fire systems
